I interrupt this broadcast to ring a bell to say Minutes of a Monday has gone out on 50 consecutive Monday’s - a level of consistency that would have shocked me 50 Monday’s ago.
And to say thank you, to you, my cherished reader for…well…reading.
I hope you get something from the minutes that you can take into your Monday and maybe even stays with you for the week.
If I could be so bold as to ask anything further of you, it would be help spread the word. You can do that by:
(i) Sharing a Minutes of a Monday with someone who you think might enjoy it;
(ii) Sharing an article with someone who you think might enjoy it;
(iii) comment ‘here’s to another 50!’ on this post.
I’d love to reach 100 readers by Christmas Day.
As of this morning, there are 50 of you. I know right? Blissful numeric harmony.
Here’s to the next 50 - readers and Minutes of a Monday. And a few articles in between.
Thanks again. I appreciate you.
Now, on with the show - Niall.

Brain Food > Deep Fake
“Actor Erik Passoja recently shared a story about how a scanned image of his face was used in a video game without consent or compensation. Erik says in his facebook post: ‘Back in 2014 I worked on “Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare”. I played a Belgian geneticist in several scenes….turns out my likeness was used in the online PvP [Player V Player] game. Players can shoot me in the face, blow me up, stab me, push me off a cliff, and burn me alive, all while I scream and die in extreme violence. This is not a Belgian geneticist. This is a completely different character.’
The video game company used a scanned image of Erik’s face to create a new character without his consent. The new character created, with his face, helped that game gross over a billion dollars.
Erik was not paid anything for the additional use of his face on the new character. This is another one of the many reasons we are on strike. Because it’s an existential threat to our profession and our livelihoods.”
